Part-Time Accounting & Tax Assistant (Remote)

Location: Remote (U.S.)

Our office is located in Clear Spring, Maryland. While this is a remote position, we may occasionally ask team members to attend an in-person meeting at our office (typically no more than twice per year).

We're looking for a detail-oriented, reliable, and self-motivated individual to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone with accounting or tax experience who enjoys working collaboratively in a flexible, remote environment. It may also be a great fit for a parent or caregiver seeking meaningful part-time work with room to grow.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Starting at approximately 10 hours per week

  • Opportunity for additional hours as our firm grows

  • Hourly pay based on experience

Responsibilities

You'll assist our team with a variety of tasks, including:

  • Bookkeeping and accounting support

  • Tax planning and tax preparation for small businesses

  • Tax law research

  • Client communication

  • Administrative and project management tasks

Depending on your interests and skills, you may also have opportunities to assist with:

  • Social media management

  • Marketing initiatives

  • Website updates

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following software platforms:

    • Drake Accounting

    • Drake Tax

    • Drake Portals

    • QuickBooks Online (QBO)

    • Xero

    • FreshBooks

    • Wave

    • Gusto

    • ClickUp

    • Verifyle

    • Squarespace

    • Square

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, especially during tax season

  • Willingness to learn new software and adapt to changing technology

Part-Time Operations Manager (Remote)

Location: Remote (U.S.)

Our office is located in Clear Spring, Maryland. While this is a remote position, we may occasionally ask team members to attend an in-person meeting at our office (typically no more than twice per year).

We're looking for a highly organized, dependable, and proactive Operations Manager to help keep our firm running smoothly. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys improving systems, managing projects, supporting a growing team, and creating an exceptional client experience. If you're someone who thrives on organization, efficiency, and solving problems before they arise, we'd love to hear from you.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Starting at approximately 10–15 hours per week

  • Opportunity for additional hours as our firm grows

  • Hourly pay based on experience

Responsibilities

You'll play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our firm, including:

  • Managing projects and internal workflows

  • Coordinating client onboarding and ongoing communications

  • Monitoring deadlines and ensuring projects stay on schedule

  • Maintaining and improving firm processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Assisting with administrative and operational tasks

  • Supporting the team with workflow management and resource planning

  • Maintaining our client portal and document management systems

  • Coordinating vendors and software subscriptions

  • Assisting with bookkeeping, billing, and operational reporting as needed

Depending on your interests and skills, you may also assist with:

  • Marketing initiatives

  • Social media management

  • Website updates

  • Team training and process documentation

  • Technology implementation and automation

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following software platforms:

Tax Preparer (Remote)

Location: Remote (U.S.)

Our office is located in Clear Spring, Maryland. This is a remote position; however, there may be occasional in-person meetings or training sessions at our office (typically no more than twice per year).

We're looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join our growing firm. This opportunity may be structured as a part-time employee or an independent contractor (1099), depending on experience, availability, and mutual fit.

  • Flexible part-time schedule

Responsibilities

You'll work with our team to provide high-quality tax and advisory services, including:

  • Preparing federal and state individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns

  • Reviewing client financial information for completeness and accuracy

  • Identifying tax planning opportunities and communicating recommendations

  • Assisting with tax projections and year-round tax planning

  • Conducting tax research on federal and state tax issues

  • Communicating with clients to gather information and answer tax-related questions

  • Maintaining organized electronic workpapers and documentation

  • Collaborating with team members to meet filing deadlines

  • Assisting with bookkeeping adjustments and year-end accounting as needed

Depending on your interests and experience, you may also assist with:

  • IRS and state tax notices and correspondence

  • Tax resolution projects

  • Client advisory services

  • Workflow and process improvements

  • Staff mentoring and technical training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of tax preparation experience

  • Experience preparing individual and S corporation tax returns

  • Experience working with small business clients

  • Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA, or CPA candidate preferred (but not required)

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Familiarity with Drake Tax is required and one or more of the following software platforms:

    • Drake Accounting

    • Drake Portals

    • QuickBooks Online (QBO)

    • Xero

    • FreshBooks

    • Wave

    • Gusto

    • ClickUp

    • Verifyle

    • Squarespace

    • Square

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

  • Ability to learn new technology and adapt to changing tax laws
